Default Very beginner question about sports betting!

I watch a lot of sports, however I've never in all my years bet 1 sports event. Well in anycase I thought I'd give it a go for fun! I would really like to know what all those numbers mean - and how the translate into bets?
For example +155 or -133, etc. etc
I'm really clueless as to what these numbers mean exactly?
thanks

+155 = bet 100 to win 155
-133 = bet 133 to win 100

of course your unit doesnt have to be 100, but you just take that ratio, i.e. you can bet 10 to win 15.5 on a +155 bet

You might want to pick up Stanford Wong's Sharp Sports Betting.
