Default shorthand and terms

What do hero, mp1/2/3, co mean? sb and bb are the blinds. the rest?

The positions go

UTG, UTG+1, MP1, MP2, MP3, CO, Button, SB, BB

Hero is your position

But what does CO stand for? MP is mid position, (I am guessing?)

UTG = under the gun
MP = middle position
CO = cut off
SB = small blind
BB = big blind
HERO = your position

The numbers are the number to the right of that position but some people might refer to MP3 as CO-1.

why is it called the "cut-off"

Because you act right before the button, giving you a chance to raise and cut him off of the button.
