Default Late Stages, Foxwoods Tuesday Night Tourney

Hi,
First live multitable I've ever played. 11 people left (15K for first price) and I've got the 4th most chips with 32K at 2K-4K blinds w/500 ante. We're playing 6 handed and the table is tight as hell (including myself, but less so than the others). I pick up K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] utg. UTG+1 and UTG+2 both have about 14K, button has 40K and the blinds have 20K each. What's my play?
Sorry if this is too mundane or lacking in relevant details-I'm new to multitable tourneys.

Well put.

Wow, those are so incredibly high blinds. You're in 4th and you only have 8BB? Wow.

If everyone's playing tight, I'd raise to 12k and pray for some folds.

Folding to agression is a terrible idea. agression from the other stacks, except for the 40k stack would make you pretty pot committed...something like 8k raise for a pot that would be about 30k or so...raise to 12k, call if one of the smaller stacks push, and give some consideration a push by the button. the blinds are so big here you will have to gamble sometime, and people will be gambling with much worse than KJs.

Thanks, this is exactly what I thought-so given that I can't fold to a reraise to anyone but the button, should I raise to 12K looking to call anybody but the button's all-in? Given that, should I fold preflop? The first responses "raise or fold" are obvious as I don't plan on limping-the question is which one do I do?

this is push or fold, not raise or fold. raising and then folding to a reraise with only 8x is not a good plan.

i think it's a push. you have a very good chance here to pick up 9k without seeing a flop.

Given that it's a tight table - I think you push. If you are called I think you'll be a dog, but a bad ace should fold this (Does KQ call? - maybe in BB). You are 6 handed and likely to have the best hand. If you take down the blinds you're in good position for another orbit and the table will consolidate soon and offer some blind relief. Not knowing the payouts, top 3 is probably your goal.

This is very dependant on the payout structure.

I'd be willing to fold this, if being patient and leting others play will give me a good payday. However If the structure is very top heavy I'd be more inclined to raise.
