Zoo vs SS vs Touns NLHE Tourney. Feb 5th. TruePoker. 8.30pmEST

DETAILS

Basically, this is a normal Multi-Table Tournament, held at TruePoker.com. It is a $20+$2 No Limit Hold'em game, although because of various bonuses that True gives participants, most players only pay $10 each.

To make it interesting, and to give the winning forum's posters bragging rights over the other forums, at the end of the Tourney I allocate points to each player according to where he finishes; the points are added up; and the Team with the highest number of points is declared the winner of the Team Event. (There is one overriding Rule: "We are all gentlemen." Obviously, there must be no softplay of one's own team-mates, and no chip-dumping to one's own team-mates, during the Tournament. It is only after the Tournament is over that the Team Points aspect comes into play.)

These Tournaments are amazingly good-natured fun but also intense poker. It is joked that the flop percentage has dropped to zero on occasions. (Maybe that isn't a joke, in fact.)

Please join us at the tables - our intention is to start a League in due course, and this Tournament is helping to pave the way for that exciting ambition.

BONUSES

I am in correspondence with Mr True-Man about our rebates and bonuses. We are calculating on there being 100 players, paying $20+$2, but the offers stand in any case.

Here are the deals done to date:

Anyone who plays 100 raked hands by midnight EST of February 4th (that averages at only 5 raked hands per day from now!) at any level will receive a $10 Rebate after they play in the Tourney. (Possible $1000 added.)

Anyone who registers by midnight EST on 31st January will receive a $2 Early Bird Rebate after they play in the Tourney. (Possible $200 added.)

The player who finishes on the Bubble will receive a Bellagio Casino $50 Food and Beverage comp. (Fully Transferable.) ($50 added.)

The first player to win a pot with a revealed GrannyMae (Q5) will receive a $25 Bonus. (Possible $25 added.)

The winners of the first twenty Last Longer Bets posted in the Zoo or the SS, and notified to Support, of $5 or more, will each receive an additional $5 from TruePoker. (Possible $100 added.)

Up to the first five players knocked out of the Tournament by the eventual winner, if they finish outside the money, will each receive $10 Compensation. (Possible $50 added.)

There will be a $25 bonus to the non-final table player who knocks out the most of the opposing Team's Members. ($25 added.)

Okay, so a couple of weeks ago, I get a PM from Dr Physic trying to recruit me to play in this tournament for the tournaments team. (I think it's because I've played in 2+2 SNGs before, and not because I'm a good player, but I digress...) I find out about the deposit bonus, plus the cool freebies that True is giving out for this tournament and I sign up, even though I really had no intention of doing so originally.

I put in my $250 to get the max $50 bonus and to my dismay, the lowest limit there is 1/2. That's a bit uncomfortable for me, who is used to playing .25/.50 and .50/1 ring games. To top it off, there's like no Omaha/8 players there, where I like to make my money.

Anyways, I get on the site and can't believe the amount of fish that are there. People staying in with bottom pair, raising on busted flush draws, etc. There have been many times where I'm SURE my KK has been cracked by the river Ace, only to find out that the other guy has been calling down with bottom or middle pair the entire time. Plus, I can easily identify 2+2ers, since most of you have already registered at the tournament. I know who to avoid at the micro limit tables.

I've just about doubled my money in 1 week now, and am set to get back another $12 from the early bird and rebate from True.

Anyways, THANK YOU for deciding to run this at True Poker. I never would have found it on my own.

I also signed onto True. I was amused by the graphics and speaking players at first. I was also not happy about the limit (whereas I only deposited $100 … bad idea in hind site should have hit it with $250).

So, I also sit at the lowest level fixed game. 20 minutes later, have doubles the $50 I took to the table. I in turn play the next hour out get 50 hands in. Like an idiot (in hindsight), I sign up for the tourn. and try the SNG’s. I figure that if the ring games are this much fun, let’s rack it up on the SNG’s!

Three tournaments later, I am down the $16. Why? I just get outplayed and out drawn. I am not complaining. I will complain that when you are all in vs. a player, there is no delay between cards, leaving me a bit dizzy!! Compared to PS, it is like light speed! Also, you only get T800. I guess my mind was not bright enough to keep the best proportionate to my stack.

I realize that the SNG’s are not my cup of tea. I proceed to the ring tables and Tilt, like there is no tomorrow.
