Help Me Cook My Steak!
I went to Vons today to pan fry a nice juicy steak. I bought a Ranchers Reserve Beef Chuck Boneless Steak thats somewhat thin (guy there said it would cook better on a stove). Then when I got home I realized I didn't know how to cook it. I think I have to use oil right? I also got some potatos, I can microwave these things right? Thanks for the advice OOT.

Re: Help Me Cook My Steak!
Rub meat w/ sea salt and black pepper. Pan sear in 1tbsp. butter and 1tbsp. olive oil over med-high heat. Time depends on desired doneness and thickness of meat, but try about two minutes on each side for med-rare, and go up from there.

Re: Help Me Cook My Steak!
Thanks man, 4 minutes to cook a steak seems quick but I'll see how it goes.

GRILL IT. [/ QUOTE ] Yes. Also, there should be absolutely no microwave involved in any meal containing a steak. |

Re: Help Me Cook My Steak!
I wouldn't eat chuck for a steak...it's really not marbled enough to be tender without stewing.
Go get a nice sirloin ro rib-eye and then grill it. As for the potato, poke some holes in it with a fork, then microwave for 10-15 minutes. This is 1/4 of the time it takes to actually bake one, and it takes exactly the same. |
