This just happened. I get 99 in the sb. UTG+1 open raises (20/11 AF 2.3) folds to co (51/7 AF 1) who calls. What do you do. What are you thinking? Remember the 10/15 structure.

Good thoughtful post Johnny.
Ok, I like a 3-bet here. UTG+1 has loose raising standards and CO will be calling with a worse hand than yours the vast majority of the time too. Re-raising accomplishes 3 things: 1) Better defines UTG+1 hand. 2) Folds out BB most times. 3) Take control of the hand All the above added to the fact that it is a 10/15 blind structure, pushes me into raising this hand. |

Out of position against 2-3 opponents I don't like a three-bet here against a tight-aggressive erarly position raiser. I call, and hope to flop an overpair or a set. If not, I'll get away from it on the flop usually unless I am HU against the PFR and there is only one overcard on the board. Occasionally, I'll continue when there are 2 overcards if they are like JT but only then if I have a pretty good feel for the villain's postflop play.

Raising ther is the old small favorite/ big dog concept. Dude has stats like that UTG+! and raises into a full tale and you are cosidering three betting 99 from a blind?
You've been holding out on your meds again havent you, call PF you have incredible position on the raiser you pretty much close the action (aside from the BB) who for that fact you DON'T MIND HIM CALLING!!! You're gonna need to flop a set or at least an overpair to continue on against that type of raiser, and you are in great shape against them if you do flop it that way. Call and see the flop. |

even thought you probably have the best hand now based on the opponent's #'s, the odds are cards higher then 9's will flop. call, see the flop and then use your superior play to judge the situtation. do your player notes tell you they play and ace, etc. also while you want to be aggressive, even bad players get good cards. see the flop.

I'm SHOCKED, you are advocating anything but a fold.

Good point, I like having CO call another for his likely holdings, while I could possibly have the best hand. I am very curious to hear what others say. This could be a leak for me, I just called a 3 bet with similar holdings (way more callers 3 bad ones, and a short stack) and the comment at the table (3 bet of AK)
"Matt for someone who I thought was good that was a really weak pre-flop call" I was both embarassed and proud of this one. |

You should re-raise in this situation. I'll leave it for others to elaborate. Do you see why?

Tell me what you'd do with every pair.
