Default Help me get some chips for my dad

I really don't know what to get for my dad for Christmas. The man has no hobbies.

He likes poker, but he only plays about once a month in a home game. I know if I got him some nice chips, he would like them. I only play online and I've never even touched a good qaulity casino-style chip (I know, I'm one of those young punks). So I'm clueless.

I'm willing to spend maybe $80-$100. I've read some of the threads on here, but they just end up confusing me because there's so many disagreements on what a good chip or price is.

You probably want to get him at least 300 chips. For your price range, I recommend this one:

http://www.5stardeal.com/deals/10Exp...e=10-8000-300S

He can easily add to that set later without worrying about finding matching colors. This place will give you another 25% off right now. It's about the cheapest retail place around to buy chips.

I second Ten's motion. For a last minute, low-priced chip without the chance to check out samples first, just get those NexGens!

Here is another option from 5 Star

http://www.5stardeal.com/deals/10Exp...ctCode=10-1010

They were offering 25% off so that is $0.06 per chip or $6 per hundred. You could get 500 chips + case for about $50 plus shipping. I have ordered samples of these and they are very much like casino chips, but a little lighter. Overall a very good chip. I would get the following breakdown of colors.

150 White
100 Red
100 Blue
100 Green
50 Black

Here is a link to a nice case

http://www.5stardeal.com/deals/10Exp...tCode=10-5002S

Throw in a set of Kem or Copag cards then put the set together yourself, wrap it up and say "Merry Christmas Dad."

I just got the set of nexGen's in for my dad. I got the set of 650, ended up paying about $170 though including shipping.

I am printing my own custom labels to make them unique for him. Timeconsuming, but well worth it, and they feel good for a chip that isn't a chipco or paulson.

I am a wholesaler buyer for 5star. I can get you ANY of their chips for LESS than they sell them for. They offer me some really great discounts and I pass those on to my customers.

Thanks for the help, guys, this is exactly what I got. It's a little more than what I wanted to spend, but maybe I can get my brother to chip in (pun intended).

Default Nexgens are the best

I've tried samples of all the cheaper chips and I've concluded:

For under 50 cents/chip, Nexgens are the best chip you can buy considering feel/looks. The 10g faux clay may feel just as good but they are dog ugly albeit a lot cheaper.

The Nexgens are currently 20 cents/chip with discount. To find something better, you would have had to spend 50 cents or more per chip. And in fact, for 5 cents a chip extra, you could purchase custom sticker labels and make them look even better.

What's the weight on the Nexgens? I didn't see it on the website.
