Default Turn check with a boat; did I lose value here?

1/2, Live, Turning Stone.

Villain is a bit of a calling station.

1 limp, Hero ($cover) is early MP with A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and limps, LP villain ($300ish) makes it $10 (with a relatively wide range of hands), I call and everyone else folds. Heads-up to the flop.

Flop (~$25): A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Hero bets $25, Villain calls.

Turn (~$75): Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Hero checks.

You don't state stack sizes but "Villain is a bit of a calling station."

If you bet $40 or something he will probably call with just a spade in his hand, then if he makes his flush you can get him for even more.

I would definitely bet here.

Good chance you did loose value. He'd probably continue to draw to a flush despite the board pairing but will fold if he wiffs on the river. I wouldn't go crazy probably 1/2 pot ish.

I guess I should have been more specific in my questions about this hand.

The dude raised preflop, and then called my bet on this flop.

1) What do you think his hand range is?
2) Are there any hands that are hard-pressed to call a turn bet but can call on a non-spade river?
3) If he has a flush draw, will I get most of his stack on the river even if I don't bet this turn?

you don't need to over think this. calling station who raises preflop with wide range of hands and calling a flop bet doesn't mean much.

you have a good hand against a player who's weakness is calling too far with a worse hand so you put money in the middle while you can with villan drawing dead. I like 100% pot equity, do you?

1) Pretty big based on the info. Pair with a Spade, Qx, AK, KJ or KT with a spade, set (though maybe the passive wakes up) based on my live 1/2 experience could be worse.

2) I wouldn't put too much stock in that if he is a calling station, but possibly. Maybe AK no spade. Most of what I think would be in his range that can call a blank river can call the turn.

3) Not if he doesn't make the flush. Then you miss out on a bet he would probably call on the turn.

sad to see you playing 1/2, dave.

id bet again because you want to play a big pot, and a big spade (K or J) or an ace (since it's turning stone) will come along. Obv a flush or KQ type hand will get stacked if you check either way.

Do you really need to ask?

I bet something like 50 here, sets up 175 pot and ~215 pot, so you could all in on the river or vlue bet less etc.
