Default JJ Overbet

I've been losing a lot of money with one pair, so I could use some review on how to play a hand like this one. The preflop raise is standard. What about the flop play? What his $1 bet asking (or telling) me and how should I respond? The amount of money I had left on the turn was awkard, and just pushing seemed better than anything else given how draw-heavy the board was. Yes? No? I still don't understand how to play in these spots. Thanks.

Party Poker No-Limit $25 Hold'em (8 handed)

I play it exactly how you did. Sucks that you ran into a slowplayer, but it happens.

Ok. So when SB bets $1 on the flop, how do you interpret that? I was confused as to what that bet meant.

Once he calls your raise on the flop, I think you should expect the worst and check behind on the turn. I know that you don't want to give a draw a free card, but there is a pretty good chance that he is trying to set up a turn check/raise. I would check behind and then call a reasonable bet on the river (since you may have induced a bluff). If he pushes the river, play poker, but I would usually fold.

What if I check behind and he checks again on the river?

That they're drawing and want to see a cheap turn.
