Default Was I over cautious here?

UB $22 SNG.

I have the chip lead at the time. It is early; BB is 20 and play is 9-handed.

I open limp from MP w/ QJd. MP1, MP2, CO, Button call, BB checks.

Flop: 5s Jc 2h

I bet the pot (130), button calls.

Turn: [5s Jc 2h] 2s.

The call of my bet worried me. I have been burned by sets too often and I could see someone having limped w/ KJ as well. Therefore, I checked the turn, the button bet the pot (390), and I wimp out and fold. He started the hand w/ 955 to my 2300.

Was I too cautious here? Should I have bet the pot on the turn?

It looks like he had you either outkicked or put you on a draw. More likely the former since he had half you stack. My instincts would mirror yours there and give it up so as to maintain my lead.
