On draw heavy boards, dont try to get fancy, you've gotta make drawers pay.

And also, in the rare event that someone has a lower set, you can get in a nice little war with him and take down a much larger pot.

Yes you did. 3-bet the flop. You have the nuts. It's a drawy but not overly scary board so he might be bluffing you with some nonsense like A high.
