Sorry for the non-official status post. Any mention of the chips gets me excited. I'm not sure who is more anxious. My 4 year old wanting Christmas to get here, or myself waiting for poker chips.

Ditto! Everyone I know is SICK of me talking about Poker Chips. Co-workers, dates, etc. Meanwhile I have a stack of chipcos that I am constantly playing with.

OK, I don't want anyone to think I am avoiding this subject
so here is where we are as of today. We have received the first
set of proofs today! There is, as expected, a few issues to clean up
so we sent them back immeadiatly. At this time we are not sure
how fast Chipco turns around revisions, Ten can you help, but
we will have an idea soon. Once we Have the proof final we will
post it for all to see. Then we are going to have a couple samples
done to see the actual chips. Then we print. I still believe I
will be able to ship finished chips the week of Thanksgiving,
this does not mean everyone will get their chips before T-Day,
but soon after is a good estimate. We have choosen to do the samples
which will add a couple extra days to this process as we want to
be sure the proofs interprete to the chips. What I saw today
was great

You all will be impressed and pleased with your chips!
Jeremy has done a fantastic job!

Thanks for the update!! Just think of me as the kid in the back seat "Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?"

Guys, I am new to this forum but got lucky enough to find this thread in the nick of time! Thanks Tabasco. I placed an order earlier today for 1,000 chips. Now, I am having the same dilemma as everyone else. I don't know if I should have done the color breakdown differently.

Here is what I ordered:

200 white
300 red
300 green
100 black
50 blue
50 purple

Does anyone have any suggestions on switching color quantities: 150 white/150 black instead of 200/100? any other suggestions?

Thanks. Any input would be appreciated. Hopefully, if I get any better suggestions I may still have time to reallocate my order.

I think it's ok as is (a little heavy on the low end for me) but you didn't say how you intend to use them (i.e. dealer's choice, tourneys, combo etc...) or what limits you generally play.

If I were to make a change it might be RED/GRN/BLK 275/275/150 just to have more $100's for tourneys. Because of the cash game limits I like to play [25¢ (grn), 50¢ (red) & $1] I'd want a good number of $1 chips plus they're good for side games for the busted out folk. If I up my custom order to 1000 this is how I'm going ex. I'm only getting 5 chips so my purp's will be 100.

My 2¢,
Fins

If you do tourney's check out: homepokertourney.com... that is if you haven't already.

I agree with Fins -- I would try for 150 black and shave off either 25 from white, red, or green. Totally depends on what you think you will need more of though. I started with 650 then upped to 700, then 725. I'm probably driving MSpatton nuts!

Don't know if this will help you, but here are my quantities and likely cash amounts --
White - 115 .25
Red - 185 .50
Green - 225 $1
Black - 125 $5
Purple - 50 $20
Blue - 25 $100

The $1 will be the most used, so I got the most (more?) of them. I wont use many .50 chips but got a lot of them to be flexible for tourneys and other games.

Default I couldn\'t decide what to do with my chips either...

I was really caught up over what to do with the white chip. I was going to get my own custom set with 4 colors (Red, green, black, lavender/purple) for the typical tourney style or $20 gets you $800 in chips type games we play. But I can't very well get a suited set of chips without getting the hearts so I had to try and find a way to work in the white chips. Since we don't play much with dollar chips (or .25/.50 chips) and I am anal about chip colors (I know, there are no demoninations and I can make them any value I want but I just can't help it) here is the best I could come up with:

***Note I am only ordering 550 for now but if our games get bigger, then I will order up more in the future. I wanted the best breakdown for both low limit and tourney styles while getting all the suits (minus the blue star chips - not a suit or a joker so I can pass this one up).

White = 100
Red = 175
Green = 150
Black = 75
Purple = 50

This gives me a pretty good breakdown for smaller games and I can use the whites if someone is really wanting to play lower limits. But for most of my games and in the future when I add around 200-300 chips, the 100 white chips will then become my $1000 chips.

Anyway, that was my rational. hope it helped somebody out there.

Thanks Fins, Warewulf and MSPatton for the advice. I decided to change my set of 1000 chips as follows:

200 white
275 red
275 green
150 black
50 blue
50 purple

I think that will give me a good balance for tournaments (while still having enough white chips for a ring game).
