AQo - no pair I raise turn
Unfortunately I didn't have a read here, and I'm not going to look back at PT stats.
Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is MP with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. 1 fold, Hero raises, 2 folds, SB calls, BB calls. Re: AQo - no pair I raise turn
I don't like it. If SB has a pair, you aren't getting him off it with the turn raise. Your hand doesn't really seem to have much showdown value on that board, so I don't see the merits of raising for a free showdown. You have probably between 7 and 10 outs, so I'd just call and see what the river brings.
If you raise the turn, he likely will not bet into you if you hit, so you will probably get 1BB when you hit and lose 2BB when you miss. If you call the turn, he will probably pay off a river raise, so you gain 2BB when you hit and lose 1BB when you miss. |

Re: AQo - no pair I raise turn
The more I think of it the more I like this line. If villain has a ten then you're obviously behind but you still have your ~10 outs. However, if villain has a lesser pair there is a good chance he is folding his hand.

and Hero might have the best hand.

Re: AQo - no pair I raise turn
It's a good line in theory, but for me at least, it never works. No 10/likely even smaller pair actually folds.

Re: AQo - no pair I raise turn
I forgot the chance that sb might be someone donking his ace. It happens frequently enough.

Re: AQo - no pair I raise turn
I definitely like it. If he is a typical player, he may have a pair or a flush draw. I don't think the turn raise will make him fold a pair...these MOFOs just don't fold... but you are extracting the maximum from a flush draw and you will take a free showdown UI against a pair.
If you do make your your hand, you will have extracted the maximum against a pair also. With reads, the best line might be different. |
