Default Player\'s Club, Ventura, CA?

What can anyone tell me about this place? Called them and lady said they have a dealer's choice game and a no-limit game. Area's a little rough. Anybody played there?

Thanks,

NK

Went there to play once last year, but was scared to get out of my car in the parking lot.

Would also like to hear any personal experiences of 2+2 posters. And--what are my other geographically close choices when in Ventura?

About 30 miles north of Santa Barbara there's Chumash casino. They have a handful of tables with generally one 1-5 stud, one 4-8 holdem, and one 4-8 omaha going on. After the tourneys on the weekends sometimes a 6-12 holdem will start up. The other players are about 50% loose passive fish, 40% above average loose-agressive, and 10% skillful. From what I've been told (I play low limit) the game is tougher than it's limit suggests. But it's all I got this side of Los Angeles.

Their new casino building will be done fall of this year and they say they'll have 14 poker tables. They say their hotel will be done next year.

The dealers choice is Holdem, Omaha, or Pineapple. The Omaha is played with 5 hole cards, instead of 4, when it is short handed. In the "Pineapple" game, they never discard, the call it "Lazy Pineapple" Most choose to play these games Hi-Lo. I think the dealers choice is 3/6 with a kill. It is probably among the loosest games I have ever played. The No-Limit is also good. It is the only regularly spread no-limit holdem in Southern California. The area is not the best, but I never worried about it. If you park in the lot in back, the door to the club is usually open. Just get in your car and drive away.
