For the Vegas regulars
I've only played poker in Vegas one time, and will be going with a few friends in early February. Two of which are newbie holdem players. Where will we find tables that are $1-$2/$2-$4 range?
I've played at the $8-$16 Bellagio previously. What is comparable to this game? Mirage $10-$20? Do either of them have lower limit games as described above? Thank you all in advance! |

Re: For the Vegas regulars
I would recommend the Luxor for newbies. They spread 2-4 HE fairly regularly, plus it's a friendly, laid back area (I hesitate to even call it a "room"). The Palms spreads 2-4 sometimes but you need your gas mask with all the smoke. I don't know of any place in Vegas that has 1-2 HE. Mirage starts at 3-6, Bellagio's lowest limit is 4-8.

Re: For the Vegas regulars
I found the dealers and staff at the Sahara to be friendly. They'll be helpful to you as new players.
They spread a $2/$4 Hold 'Em game. |

Re: For the Vegas regulars
I think the smallest game you can find is the 1-3 spread limit game at Exclibur. Binion's was spreading 2/4 but who knows when it will reopeon. 3/6 is Mirage's smallest game. 4/8 for Bellagio.

Re: For the Vegas regulars
I can echo all three of these, Luxor, Excalibur, and Sahara.
In addition to the low-limit, generally friendly rooms, there are other nice aspects: At the Luxor, the "room" is just an area by the blackjack tables, so it's easy to hear your name called if you end up on a list and want to play a little. The Sahara has plenty of $1 tables if your BJ limits mirror your poker limits, easy to waste time, hard to waste money (but they don't call it the Sahara for nothing, nor is the bar called The Thirsty Camel for naught...waitresses can be scarce). The Excalibur has a dealer nicknamed Bubbles (don't recall his real name, he looks exactly like Bernie Mac) who's a perfect low-limit dealer...friendly, knows a few jokes, has a ton of stories about old Vegas, but still keeps the game going. Re: For the Vegas regulars
You won't find 1-2. 2-4 is available at the Monte Carlo and Flamingo.

Re: For the Vegas regulars
I know the dealer your talking about. He does look like bernie mac. weird.
I'd stay the best game for a newbie is the 1-3 holdem at excalibur. The rules favor playing a lot of hands b/c you can ususally see a real cheap flop. If your friends can get away from a hand if they don't hit, they should be fine. The play at the 1-3 is absolutly abysmal to say the least. |
