you need to re-examine 4 handed game if you think calling with A8 is not a good idea.
I'd 3-bet it based on how often the player raises. 4 Handed, A8 is the [censored], [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] |

Admittedly I don't play much 4 handed. My thinking, though, is that if it's folded to me either a call or a raise would be fine, but with the caller before me, and out of position, it seems like it's just asking for trouble. Win a small pot or lose a big one kind of trouble. My guess is that a call here is at best slightly +EV for the best players, but that for everybody else it's a hand that will be very tough to play postflop if there's any action at all.
