Default Am I missing something?

10/20 hollywood casino in Aurora Illinois. table is full of any twoers and 2or 3 with a clue even 2+2 possibly.

I am in middle position with AJ off. 4 limpers to me I think about raising but know it is gonna be a showdown so I just call. long story short 8 to flop SB folded in a 10 handed game for 1/2 a bet as did the cutoff. God I love this game.

Flop is A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] checked to 2nd limper who bets 1 call to me I raise player next to me calls all fold to original bettor who 3 bets fold to me I 4 bet player behind me makes a comment about folding top pair and mucks.

Turn is K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] he checks I check behind.

River is X insignificant and he bets I call.

I was told by two of the players in the game that I thought I respected that they bet the turn. How can that be or am I missing something?

My hand was no good he Had KJs for a turned full house. I know this may be silly but I have been thinking about the hand since it happened and wondered if I was wrong or they were just off base.

Thanks for your input

I think I am missing something. That was hard to read and the K of spades popped up twice in the hand... So I am just going to respond to what I think happened there.

First off - raising AJo is the right move regardless of how many players are going to see the flop. It will just win more than its fair share, so you are profiting with every extra cent put into the pot preflop (assuming you aren't dominated, which you have no reason to think that you are).

I think the turn and river are played fine because it is hard to imagine the player who 3bet you has anything worse than an Ace, which you are now tied with. Well played on those streets. If it weren't heads up it would be a bet however.

Why? He is heads up and can get a showdown for just one bet. If he bets he risks getting blown off his hand by another ace, which would be a huge mistake in this rather large pot. Check the turn and take the showdown for one bet.

Even if the odds of someone making this play are very small, I still think there is no point in making a bet on the turn. What hand are you trying to extract value from? This weak player 3bet him on the flop. He has to have at least an ace, possibly a king or a flush draw which now got there. I suppose it is possible he 3bet on a complete bluff, in which case I don't think it is outside the realm of possibility that he pops you on the turn as a bluff as well. This sort of thing doesn't happen often, but every once in a while a player just decides he is planning to bet or raise at every chance throughout the hand, and folding would obviously be a big mistake.

Besides all of that, hero has outs against a flush, and it would be a shame to fold them away when he can take the free card to improve on the river. Or 3 outs against pocket J's. In any case, the pot is huge, and folding it with outs when you could have taken a free card and showdown for the same price is a mistake.

You're holding an ace and a jack in your hand. There is an ace and a jack on the board. This means his two pair is more likely to contain a king. You had the common sense to realize this and that in all likelihood the Ks cannot be a good card for you (not to mention it was a spade). You played the turn fine.

Swiss

You can't bet the turn there unless you are going to lay down to a raise. And i sure don't want to be laying down with two pair in that spot. You played the hand PERFECTO.

Btw i played at Hollywood last night in the 20-40 and after the 20-40 broke at 9:30 they converted it to a 10-20.Guess i missed ya. Ice

Raise the flop - other than that very smart not betting the turn as you have to think the K helped him or the spade, call the river down for sure.......your other option would be to bet the turn and fold to a cr - however that would not be my preffered line.....
