Default What is the value of Philosophy?

This is a question that has bothered me for sometime since my fascination with Philosophy. Is there a value in Philosophy? It seems that my study in Philosophy is merely a selfish one, and I think this is true for all Philosophers. I especially have a hard time justifing my studies to someone else, and I can't really argue. Your thoughts please.
