In limit poker (hold'em, stud, omaha, anything), normally the cap is 4x the stake, right? i.e. bet/raise/raise/raise. If one of the players is all-in, how does this work?
i.e. if stake is $10 and it goes bet, then raise all-in for $7 more, then the next player can call $17 or raise to which, $30, or $20? And if the answer is $20, does it cap at $30 or is there an extra raise allowed to cap at the usual $40? Without knowing, I suspect the answer is that the next raise pushes to $30, but I'd appreciate some confirmation. Thanks! |

The next player can call that raise, complete the raise or reraise. He can call for 7, complete for 10 or reraise for 20.

is the act of completing the partial only something the very next player can do, or can the player after the next player do the completion?

If the next guy folds, the next to the next guy can complete.

If the next guy calls, does that mean the following guy can only raise to 2 x bet-size? i.e. all-in bet of 7, call, then reraise to 20?

Normally, any player only has an option to complete the bet or raise a full bet, not both.
Example 1: $5/$10. Player A: Bet $5 Player B: Raise all-in to $7. If Player C wants to continue, he has 2 choices - call $7 or Complete to $10. He cannot raise to $12. Example 2: Player A: Bet $5 Player B: Raise to $8 Player C can now call the $8, or raise to $13 - he cannot complete to $10. When a bet/raise is made, it counts as one bet towards the cap if it is at least half a bet. If it is less than half a bet, it does not count. If the bet is completed, the completion counts. |
