Default Financial planners??

For the average Joe with 2 or 3 401K plans (obvioulsy limited number of funds available through past/present employers), are these guys worth the money? I have no options to buy individual stocks just different choices for mutual funds within different 401K plans.

thanks

Default Re: Financial planners??

I've talked to a few but decided not to use them. They should be certified, they discuss your financial goals including your retirement income, and recommend asset allocations accordingly including payroll contributions. They use economic models and such to arrive at their allocations. Not sure what fees are appropriate. I'd do a lot of due dligence before using one but worth considering IMO. BTW you can roll 401 k accounts from previous employers into self directed IRA's. If you use a traditional IRA you don't incur a tax penalty.
