What are the most important numbers to be evaluating in Poker Tracker in order to get the best self-analysis going for an online newbie? What from general tab and overall position stats?
Thanks, I got a lot of holes to fill.... Mack |

I like to look at what hands I am winning or losing money with, and from what positions they are profitable.

What I find most useful is not aggregate stats such as VPIP, etc.
I find the most value in analyzing the results for different hands in various positions. For instance, if you find that you are losing lots of money playing KJo in EP, you should plug that hole. Of course for this kind of analysis to be meaningful you need a reasonable # of hands in the database. I would says 10k minimum. Sam |

But when can you start to put your pokertracker to good use?? I only have about 2000 hands in it at the moment... Should i really wait untill i have about 10000 hands before i can get any solid advice from it?

I print out my game info every night and look at what I did compared to what I won. It's interesting to look at the small runs - not just the big group of hands!

Yes. If you play 500 hands a day it's only 16 more days until you're there. If you think 2000 hands is much, take an example given above: you want to examine how you play KJ in early position (EP). You will be dealt KJ in the pocket 1.2% of the time, that is 24 times. You will be in EP 30% of the time, and thus you will have a sample of approximately 7 hands (with KJ in EP). With such a small sample you're better of guessing. And no. You can take those 2000 hands and look at stats for one of the most crucial things in holdem poker: flops seen %. Since this decision (to see the flop or not) comes up in every hand, the sample size of 2000 hands will do you some good. It's easy, if you see to many flops, tighten up a bit, and vice versa. Adde |
