Default Kill/Half Kill

Can someone explain what games are like that involve a kill or half kill?

The kill is initiated when a certain threshhold is met in the previous pot. In some places, the same person winning 2 consecutive pot initiates the kill, in others, a pot of a specific size initiates it.

In a full kill game, the winner of the previous pot must post a live blind of double the size of the big blind and the stakes are double the posted stakes.
(i.e., a 6/12 game becomes 12/24)

If the game is half-kill, change the word "double" above to "150%." (6/12 becomes 9/18).

In the kill games where the kill is initiated by a repeat winner, the game reverts back to it's original stakes when a different person wins the pot. In the pot-size threshhold kill game, the kill remains on until a pot is won that is below the threshhold.

A kill pot is played at double the regular stakes. So $4-$8 becomes $8-$16, $5-$10 becomes $10-$20 etc. A half Kill raises the stakes by half. So $4-$8 becomes $6-$12 etc.

Depending on where you play a kill pot, or half kill, is playeed for one of the following reasons. The same person won two pots in a row or the pot was over a predetermined amount, say $100 in a $5-10 game. It will only be one or the other not both and the reason depends on the house rules of the game your playing in. The kill stays on until the pot falls under the amount or someone else wins depending on which rule you are using. Stakes go back to normal until it happens again.

Default Re: Kill/Half Kill how about rekills?

Kurn, a while back I posted in B&M asking how rekill games work and if they exist.

If they do exist, and you get to the double-kill level, does it drop back down by steps, by pot size, or does it just drop all the way down?

Sorry to hijack this, but I haven't gotten any good answers and you seem to know about this.

I'm curious as to what the purpose of this is. Does anyone prefer kill games ?

I know Kurn already knows this, but just to elaborate: This type of kill is most frequently found in Hi/Lo games, usually Omaha. The kill occurs after a player wins the high and the low, unless the pot is really small.
