Re: Hitting a straight flush on the river twice in a row?
Think of it this way. If you flip a coin where heads and tails are equally likely, the odds of hitting heads is 1/2. The odds of hitting heads, then heads again is 1/2 * 1/2 or 1/4.
You could flip:
Heads, Heads
Heads, Tails
Tails, Heads
Tails, Tails
For three heads in row 1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2 or 1/8:
Heads, Heads, Heads
Heads, Heads, Tails
Heads, Tails, Heads
Heads, Tails, Tails
Tails, Heads, Heads
Tails, Heads, Tails
Tails, Tails, Heads
Tails, Tails, Tails
The odds of hitting the straight flush one time is 1/46. There are 46 cards left in the deck, you need a specific card. Same math applies...1/46 * 1/46. This all is entirely independent of your odds of actually being in this situation. Odds obviously change if you know any "dead" cards.
