First sequence, 2^k mod 11; second sequence, 2^k mod 13.

The second sequence is used as the order for stacking cards in some kinds of solitaire, "each card double the rank of the previous card": Ace, 2, 4, 8, 3, 6, Queen, Jack, 9, 5, 10, 7, Ace again. Kings are blockers.

I can't think of any direct connection between the doubling-mod-13 sequence and poker, though.
