the full tilt bonus is equivalent to 54.5% rakeback at all limits. if you get rakeback as well, presumably the bonus will be deducted from MGR.
whether you want to sign up through a rebate affiliate vs. one that is offering you "swag", that depends on how much long term rake volume you plan on giving to full tilt. by the time you're done grinding $600 worth of bonus directly from the site, you may not like the place anymore and then you don't get anything on top since you'd still be rakeback negative up until that point.
if you actually play enough to clear that initial bonus there, then I'd think that Poker Academy wouldn't be a major out of pocket expense to you anyway. you might instead pick another site which does not offer rakeback at all to get your merch, such as Bodog, Pacific or Paradise.
