Re: 40 Games in (about) 50 Hours

Should have got first, but my cards went to crap on me.
The blinds were at 300/600, plus 50, and I'd been forced to fold several times in a row because of crap cards. Then I tried a bluff, got raised all-in, and had to fold again, which pretty much evened us up.
Then I picked up 33. I felt like I needed to make a stand with it - crappy hand that it is.
Now here's my question.
I could have gone all-in with it.
Instead, I made a substantial raise - about half my chips - and planned to put the rest in on the flop regardless.
He called, called again, and turned over J9, for second pair.
Is there a good argument for going all-in, vs betting half and half in this situation?
