I wasn't trying to say that the long term inevitablility of $80 a barrel and the effects are what is scary. What I thought was scary is that the Saudi's may be lying about their reserves.
IMO If that is true, when everyone finds out the truth, there won't be a slow adjustment, but a major shock to oil prices that could cause all sorts of problems (I can't give a theory as to what because I'm not really a macro-economics expert).
