We play the same game - the full-kill $5/10 at Harrah's or Trump...

I have noticed a few things, that add up to my general approach to these pots:
- The player posting the kill blind tends to overdefend
- The weak players get weaker (echo your sentiment here)
- The LAGs get more so

Kill pots basically turn the volume up on the tendencies that most people already have...

I've found that position is the most important aspect of playing these pots. When in late position with a bunch of limpers, small pocket pairs and appropriate suited connecters go way up in value (I think).

Also, it will be rare that there are others that understand the proper pot odds - and they are more likely to incorrectly fold with the higher stakes than they are to incorrectly call.
