Default Re: Poker Rates and Comps?

Wiscer, my experience is that you book a room as usual. You make sure they have a casino rate or poker rate. They quote you the full price when you check in. Then you introduce yourself in the poker room and ask that they give you the rate. They expect a certain amount of play and will tell you what it is. I have not gotten the rate at Bellagio or the Mirage, as I can usually get a better rate somewhere else, although I will end up playing at the Mirage or Bellagio when I stay somewhere else. My experience is that the Orleans is loose on playing requirements, other places tougher. The Monte Carlo that Pokerbabe mentioned is a good place to stay, although the rate even with a poker rate will be higher than $59 most of the time. The Monte Carlo carefully tracked our play and wanted 6 hours a day for the room. (My wife's play counted too of course, so it was 6 hours between us.) The games are all low-limit at the Monte Carlo, but it is a nice hotel and you can take the tram to the Bellagio for higher limit games.

Food comps vary. The worse the place the easier the comps in my experience. Orleans will track your play on a card and give you a certain amount per hour like prison wages level.(It beats a poke in the eye, don't get me wrong) Binions will give you a comp most of the time, but you will ask yourself why you bothered. If the Nevada Palace still has a room you can probably score a comp. :-)
