i've seen a lot of weak players call AK up front tyring to be tricky, etc. Go for a reraise if there is a raiser. Figured he had best kicker for the 2-pair and then got scared at the end that you might have a 4 or thought that it would be a split anyway. imho. I think a turn bet would have helped.
