Re: For those who have studied mathematics

What field do you work in?

Currently, poker and real estate.
But my research was in astrophysics, specifically time dependent multi-dimensional computational fluid dynamics simulations of accretion disks around neutron stars and black holes in binary star systems, on various vector and parallel supercomputing platforms.
I was a professor for a while, and then an instructor at a state magnet school for science and mathematics, but I really couldn't stomach the fact that I was making my living off of the taxpayer's back. Over the past 5 years my politics have drifter farther and farther libertarian, until the point that I'm now a full fledged anarchocapitalist. I simply can't accept that it is right for the government to take money from someone who could have used it to send their kid to a better school, take their family on a vacation, buy a boat, or hire a hooker, so that I can sit around and play on supercomputers. It was evil so I quit.
But I'm hijacking jason_t's thread.
