i made plenty of friends through poker..... at college one of the guys i knew said him and his room mates always had poker games at night and invited me to play. I think poker can be a great way to meet people... its a social game. At my school when all of us get together to play poker its more social and fun than anything else. Even when im home for the summer all my friends and I play poker. If your play is solely online then yeah, won't be able to meet any friends that way. But if you're in a casino and see other guys your age just get into a convo with them about other places they play and ask if you can come to some of their home games or something.... poker's kinda cool like that because you won't seem like some desperate sap looking to hand out... getting invited to play in a poker game with a buncha guys is not as ackward as getting invited to go out to a club with them.
