Well, there are some people who prefer the term african-american because for a lot of people it's accurate. I do, however, know some black people who don't like the term african-american because they aren't (e.g. caribbean).

Its another egotistical american phrase (im amrican BTW). What do I call a black man in britian? What do I call a white man in africa?
No one asks me what country I came from, and where Im currently living so that they can call me "irish american". And it would be highly stupid if they did. I'm white, the dude walking down the street is black, for all I know he's lives in germany and is here visiting, calling him "african american" is just stupid.
