Put them in on the turn. He has to call with a set, vs on the river he doesn't have to -- if he thinks he's beat. River bets are sweeter though, 100% equity when you're ahead. But, if he had the bad end of the straight, you've accomplished nothing since he was drawing dead, and the 4 card straight might kill the action.
