Seriously, though, it would take some serious justification on anyone's part to dispute this comment. Look at where Carroll has taken the Trojan program over the past few years, in terms of player development, defensive strategy, team motivation (and off-the-field behavior), and the basic technical stuff like clock management, offensive balance, simple play-calling, and consistent effort even in potentially meaningless situations. He may have been mediocre in the NFL, but I can't think of a better coach in the NCAA right now.
EDIT: I should also say that even though I live in L.A., I'm not nor have I ever been a USC fan -- I'm a Georgia Bulldog; I just think objectively Carroll is the shiznit.
