I think checking this turn is fine. You can't value bet your flush draw as you have noted and you can't say with confidence that your ace high is best. Checking is fine.
Mathematically, count 3 outs from your AJ and 9 from your flush draw. 12/47 approximately 25% or 3 to 1. Close enough that you could break even if you do. But I still err on the side of checking this one.
