Re: ANYONE HEAR OF THE VOTE RESULTS?!?!

The horse racing scam mentioned was NOT online and then hacked. It was an employee of the company that programmed the tote board at the track, and he figured out how to past-post the early races.

A far less bizarre rules question

I grew up in a very strict poker rules environment, and it was expected that if you were going to fold no matter what happens, but the action is checked to you with players left behind you, that you...

Re: *cough* wuss! *cough*

Depending on what I think of the raisers standards, I may be tempted to raise pre-flop. I agree with you about no check raise/free card with that board.

Given the way it went through the flop...

Re: Looking for multi-table tournaments

Single table tourneys are like Paradise..tenth player sits and you play. Multitable tourneys are scheduled.

Re: Monty Hall revisited, with a twist- survey

With regard to the EPR paradox and action at a distance, I think (as a layman, but having read a lot) that you are misstating the "speed of light" limitation. What general relativity says is that...

Re: Which hand is the favored?

Its free, but you get what you pay for...I find the twodimes interface and output inscrutable. If you are asking that question, than it is more than worthwhile to pick up a copy of Turbo Hold Em so...

Re: How can I work out my preflop %

The probability of seeing the flop from EP with one of those hands is reduced in direct proportion to the number of players at your table who watched Gus Hansen on WPT, as they take you all in with...

Re: Hold \'em: Standard Deviation vs. Monte Carlo Simulation

BTW, to be a little less sarcastic than my other post, remember that any SD you calculate isnt "your SD" unless you are always playing against a group of players with identical strategy profiles. You...

Re: Hold \'em: Standard Deviation vs. Monte Carlo Simulation

Rather than calculate standard deviation, the meaning of the -25BB session can more accurately be answered by "how often did that fishy in seat 2 suck out on me" and similar qualitative analysis. The...

Re: AK v QQ

The rough math he is doing really isnt that bad, and certainly close enough for most pot odds calculations. For example, you say dont just take the 24% and divide by two...getting 12%, when 13% is...

Re: YAH (Yet Another Hand)

I agree. The one thing in poker books that stands out to me as total BS is that "Even when they beat you with a negative EV play, you've actually won $". Thats great. I hum that tune all the way to...

Re: Where do you play because what i read is BS

I don't play two tourneys much anymore unless they are cheapies, having made the same mistake as you, but not having it turn out so well!

Party is the softest I think. There is a huge influx of...

Re: Looking for multi-table tournaments

The multi's at Party seem a lot fishier than Stars. However, there have been major connection problems at Party lately, presumably because of server overload. 3 or 4 times in the last week and half...

Re: ATs 4 handed...Ken

Thanks...yes I recognize and understand your points, I'm just not sure it leads to the conclusion to put in a raise of 20% of your chips. I think we agree if you were at risk of being blinded out its...

Re: Bet size relative to pot on the flop

Not being facetious here...I think there are more deviations than "by the book" circumstances. Just considering the perception that others have of yoru play, relative stack sizes and position affect...

ATs 4 handed...Ken

Sorry...I can't find the original thread but a beginner needs help, Ken!

The situation as I recall was ATs UTG, 4 left, and the player had a solid Tchip count, I think there was one short stack....

Re: Bubble situation with ATs that\'s still bugging me

ATs is still too soft UTG IMO. With 3 other players you are only about 57/43 favorite to not be facing a pair or A/better kicker (if my math is half decent), which means that you have to fear a raise...

Re: Right move, or wait for a better place?

You're mid-way through the tournament and blinds arent threatening...that is still "play it tight, hope for some good flops in blinds or very cheap calls", territory. Until you are playing the stacks...

Re: misdeal questions in home tournament

In our pretty high stakes college games we didnt even go that far...a single card mis-dealt was burned, and the player who missed his card gets his replacement after everyone else gets their "normal...

Re: Subject: Pokerstars sit and go experiment.... - RESULTS

gisborne, 17.5% ROI isn't too shabby compared to what else is out there, but it does sound on the low side for a "$20 limit" (I assume you meant a $20/$2 buy-in if the 1 tables are structured there...
