you might consider limping 99 from early position in that game and raise TT+.
limp KQo unless you raise it. I like raising KQs.
also limp AJo and any weak suited broadway.

pets, go Sugar Glider??
Right now I'm thinking a pair of sugar gliders to be the ideal pet. They are a little expensive and high maintenance but they have a lot to offer imo, cuteness included.

I agree with a bet-fold in this circumstance, it's much more clear cut than in other instances where this play in sometimes (wrongly imo) suggested.

I do think it's possible to get called by a worse hand. I'm not assuming necessarily that my opponent plays "halfway decent." But my full assesment of the situation is going to depend on any reads.
