bank roll for multi-tabling SNGs

Sorry about my other post (re: making money at SNGs); once I spotted the very long thread on the same topic, I felt stupid.

But, indulge me:
How many tables do you usually play?
How big a BR do...

Re: SNGs - win rate & profit

I totally missed the other thread, and just read all of it, and it opened my eyes -- a lot.
I wasn't thinking about multi-tabling SNGs, but clearly, that's where the money is.

SNGs - win rate & profit

Standard buy-in is 20 + 2, with first place paid 100, net profit 78.
if you take first 25% of the time, your net is 12 (assuming you don't make the money in the other 3 attempts).
is it reasonable...

Re: win rate - 1/2 NL

this is very helpful. thanks.
if I was to play NL online, I'd play lower to establish my rates, the move up, but 1/2 is as low as it goes for B&M.
my local card room was busted (NYC), and...

sit-n-gos -- can you make money?

I've been playing sit-n-gos, trying to get more tournament experience, and also practice against smaller fields.
Given that the buy-in for a $20 SNG is $22, and the payout is $100, for a $78 profit...

win rate - 1/2 NL

I'm a limit player (4/8 to 20/40), but limit games are drying up, so I'm playing more NL.
I was averaging just under 1.5 big bets per hour in my regular 10/20 game.
But, I have no idea what my...

Re: (marginal) pair and (marginal) draw

pre-flop, there was $20 in the pot. he bet 2/3 of the pot, so around $16, making the pot $36.
seems like with a pair of tens, jack kicker, and a back-door 10 high flush draw you've got a pretty...

pocket AA - did I play it right?

I was playing in a 1/2 NL game; I was in the cutoff with pocket Aces.
Four players limped, I raised to $20, both blinds and two limpers called.
The flop came 3, 4, 5, with two diamonds.
The small...

Re: Attempting a new concept

Wow. I think you are all pretty far off base here.
In the BB, unraised pot, you are getting infinite odds [free play]. Raise from that position, and you change that equation drastically. You...

Re: AKo- did I misplay the turn?

hey blinky - you play in this cardroom, and know the players as well as I do; unfortunately, I didn't know 2 of the people involved in the hand.

the pot was laying me just under 10 to 1; I figured...

Re: AKo- did I misplay the turn?

I folded.

The pot was laying me almost 10 to 1. My gutshot straight is 11 to 1 against, and my overcard outs are 7 to 1. Given just that, I had a clear call. But, I figured that I had only 2...

Re: Raising from the Big Blind with small /med Pairs still CONFUSION.

I have raised from BB with 88 & 99 if I had a bunch (5+) callers, and also with AA, KK with any number of callers.
With AKs, I might be inclined to raise; I would likely re-raise the button if he...

Re: Lesson of complacency

I think it's a good idea to say 'Raise.'
You likely aren't giving anything away (you might be that observant, but your opponents probably aren't).
I've seen too many folks - like you - learn this...

Starting Hands: Axo & small unsuited connectors

I am sure that this has been debated to death, but I wanted to get the consensus on these hands. They are tempting to play, esp. for one bet, but I'm getting the feeling that they are unprofitable....

Re: What the books say vs. what\'s really out there

The game I am specifically referring to is a B&M game in a private club in NYC. The $4-8 game can be very wild, and the swings are pretty huge.

No one really respects raises - they play their...

Re: What the books say vs. what\'s really out there

while the games aren't capped every hand, at least one hand per hour is capped, and most hands are raised pre-flop.

everyone who limps will call a raise, and usually the blinds will, too. On...

Re: AJs, when do you dump it?

I have a lot of trouble with this hand, too.

What the books say vs. what\'s really out there

Most of what I've read from Sklansky & Malmuth and the rest assumes that low-limit games are populated by players who are weak-tight, or loose-passive.

I've found that this is definitely not the...
