Re: I try to stop playing ABC poker
You should not play this hand in a way that might cause you to fold.
I usually try to put in about 6 or 7 small bets total in these spots, easiest way is to jam the flop then play the later...

Disagree with assessment of flop play
With 4 players calling the cap on the flop, plus additional dead money from the limpers, it is sound to cap the flop with TJ. If he had a backdoor flush, it is even better.

Re: Riverboat!!
Tyler,
If you would post your reasoning for the way you played the flop and the turn, I bet it would help us. I'm interested because I don't fully understand your line of play here.

Could you clarify?
Tyler,
I'm pretty confused by your comments. Could you elaborate?
It seems like you are implying that I have a flush draw and a straight draw. Did you misread the hand?
Or did you mean that...

How is this possible? To have one player only contributing 11.1% you have to get 9 players (you and 8 others) seeing the flop AND...

Never put in money in minus ev situations then :)
Seriously though, are you saying that you have to play well to extract your fair share? I agree. Think about how much worse off most of your opponents are, though. They're bad players and they just...

I'm glad you started this discussion because it prompted me to download Andrew Prock's pokerstove. I am doing some tests with it and here's what I've found so far:

Re: Jamming preflop
Good point, and I mentioned that in my post. We'll have to wait for someone to get some real numbers that balance all of the factors.

Jamming preflop
It may seem strange, but in a game like this many think jamming preflop is correct. This is not an implied odds situation. Rather, you are winning more than your fair share of every bet that goes...

Re: How Suicidal Am I?!?
preflop seems like a pretty marginal call to me. I don't think it's terrible though.
Flop: you might have the best hand, and you have 6 outs to improve. I like the checkraise to thin the field and...

Re: Loose Players and Game Selection
I think variants of H/L stud with no qualifier and a declare are far and away the best. Put in the option to buy cards and escalate the betting toward the end of the hand.
Another devastating game...

You 3 bet, and he flat called, so the logical action would be that he would check call the river.
Except that the flush didn't come in. So he bets again. Now you see that he has a hand. The call...

limp on the button
Usually when people limp on the button it is a bad play, but it might be right in certain spots.
If you know that one (or both) of the blinds will virtually never fold to your raise, and will play...

Re: Can I get some comments? 3-6 hand.
I don't like the river 3 bet against a generic opponent. In the absence of more info about the player, I'd prefer to have a full house to make this 3 bet.
