Re: Bad bet on turn??

The turn bet is fine, especially when you're out of position. As often as not, you'll pick up the pot with a bet here. And, as you demonstrated, it's an easy fold when you're raised.

Re: I think it\'s an interesting hand

1. What hands are his (thinking!) opponents holding that they will limp with preflop and call a flop bet on this board? Clearly, they all have a piece of this.

2. We don't have to assume that...

Re: I think it\'s an interesting hand

10 /images/graemlins/heart.gif8 /images/graemlins/club.gif3 /images/graemlins/heart.gif makes this a much more interesting hand because your opponents now have gutshots instead of OESD's.

I think...

Re: I think it\'s an interesting hand

While you probably still have 3 Ace outs your King outs are probably worthless. So what is a backdoor nut flush worth to you? Given your description of the other players, even with the A...

Re: A Few Hands of River Play

Hand 1: I call (and plan on losing most of the time).
Hand 2: I check
Hand 3: I bet and fold if raised.

Re: Tech question: Anonymous, trace-free, 2+2 browsing?

One could make a pretty strong argument that 2+2 is a discussion forum, not a gambling site and therefore is not a violation of any "no gambling sites" policies. Although that distinction may be too...

Re: This is the end

Ok, how's this: Why are you tipping people at all? You have already received the service that they provide for an agreed-upon price (dinner tab, rake, whatever) adding additional fees for already...

Re: This is the end

I read all the way down before I figured out that this isn't a "tip the dealer you cheap bastards" post.

Turns out it's a "Not tipping the dealer doesn't mean I'm a cheap bastard" post. Go...

Re: Ethical Question

No and no.

Lost connections are one of the risks we all take when playing online, so it sucks to be him but you're doing nothing wrong. If you were somehow interfering with his connection, that...

Re: How much would you be willing to pay if you were a newbie?

This depends entirely on the name and reputation of the "local pro". If it's the smelly guy from seat #2, I'm willing to invest considerably less than if it's Mason M.
(extreme example, but you get...

Re: AA did I raise enough?

This early in the tournament, you pretty much have to call here. Your opponent will have AK, KQ, KJ, QQ, JJ, 1010, or pure crap often enough that you can't fold an overpair on this flop.

Preflop:...

Last night's Party Poker, 5,000 point freeroll tournament. 455 players, winner gets entry to the PPMIV, everyone else gets nada.

There's 14 people left, blinds are 750/1500 and I'm the Small...

Re: What happens when a person under 21 files taxes for gambling?

Not only will the IRS not report you to other authorities, they are prohibited by regulation from doing so by the "silver platter" rule. (i.e. They can't hand another agency your head on a silver...

I\'ve Created a Monster - now what?

Although I've been playing poker for several years now, my wife has only recently gone from bored observer to participant. Here are some items of note:

1. In November, she placed 7th in a 160...

Re: Return to Poker

I just got back from an 8ish month hiatus (insane work & travel schedule). Things to note:

1. You are rusty. You don't feel it now, but when you start to play, whoo boy.

2. You've had a...

Re: Not Mature Enough For Poker

Actually, grades DO matter A LOT for first jobs out of college. I make hiring decisions for my company and generally, we get about 50+ resume's for every entry-level position we post (new college...

Re: JJ, set on coordinated board....

Hero regrets not raising preflop and letting SB play Q10 on the cheap.

There's a lot of hands that SB make this move with besides the made straight, so you're ahead at least some of the time and...

Re: TT in SB on 2/4

Did you really expect anyone to bet into you on the river after you 3-bet the turn?

Don't be afraid to bet the nuts. Bet the river.

Re: Still no idea...

Hand 1: It's going to be tough to win a lot on this hand, but you should at least raise preflop. Once you've raised preflop, betting out on the flop looks as much like protecting yourself against...

Re: 22 from SB....too weak?

Folding preflop is a pretty good way to go here.

But if you're going to play it, 3-bet preflop, and bet out on the flop (whatever the flop is)

Re: Comparsion check: 2+2

I said "deteriorated" but it's down from fantastic to excellent.

The main reason for this is that many of my favorite posters from earlier times (Fossilman, Ed Miller, David Ross to name a few)...

Re: 88 in the BB, short-stacked close to the money

I have a good read on this guy but, but I'm really just trying to focus the discussion on my raise/fold decision (I assume nobody's calling here).

Phrased alternatively: Do I go all-in out of the...

88 in the BB, short-stacked close to the money

Party $50+5. 106 players left, top 80 get paid. Blinds are 400/800 and I'm in the BB with $3,800 after posting.

Folded to MP2 with $15,000 (a solid player) who raises to $2800. Folded to me, I...
