Re: Mark Cuban on Kobe

Cuban is not out of line, although I'm not sure he's correct on this one.

His point is not exactly novel though; 'any press is good press;. Also, Cuban is widely regarded as a marketing...

Re: what do you guys think of this?

Hi Tom. For those who don't know, Tom is a maniac at No Limit, so watch out!

Anyways...the worse an opponent is at taking advantage of positions, the less important post-flop play becomes. So,...

Re: What should I do?

Reraise. You've certainly got odds to put him all-in; but you don't want the big blind in the hand obviously.

J9 vs AA wins 16.46%
J9 vs AKs wins 33.46%
J9 vs A8o wins 42.29%
J9 vs 55 wins...

Re: Aggression vs aggression

I like the play, especially for the $20/40 at Paradise. Depends on the the competition for sure; against many players, I'd shut down on the turn and either bet or check-call depending on the river...

Re: what do you guys think of this?

The article applies to open-ended play. Not just HU, but any situation when the preflop raiser has position and raised 100% of the time, to steal the blinds (i.e. the raise is opening the preflop...

Re: Shorthanded at Foxwoods.

I'd say the weird looks were for your preflop reraise with AXo. I don't believe this hand is profitable except in the absolute rarest scenarios. Too often, you'll find yourself against a bigger Ace...

Well we have to go back and consider that the SB
will be reraising a certain %...say 25%..Forcing
us out....So overall, the BB may be playing less
than 40% 3 handed...Im still not...

Re: BB Troubles...QJo vs. UTG preflop raise

I think it could be a move, especially if the button is a solid player.

One of my favorite plays is to raise the turn with a medium strength hand, with the intention of checking the river unless I...

Re: Internet VS. B&M.....Which is easier to beat?

I agree completely with JoeyT. Two big differences due to the lack of speed at live play. First, you are far more apt to get bored. Second, your win rate is harder to duplicate if the game is just...

Re: Short handed play and defending blinds

If you don't consider reverse implied odds, then every hand is playable b/c 3:1 odds is enough to play anything against a random raiser. NOT considering reverse implied odds (i.e. that your weak...

Re: Thanks for answering

To simplify, I conclude two things.

First, you are overvaluing the free card on the turn. If you raise and reraise enough on the flop, you will soon find yourself losing more money against a big...

Re: why I asked

Some B&M rooms will cap at 4 also. However, I'm not so sure it would have gone to 5 anyways.

If it did, that's really not worth that much to you...maybe a fraction of a bet. The only real...

Re: short handed on the internet.

I think a good analogy of short-handed poker for a good full ring player would be that of a stud high school player going to Division I college ball.

The speed of the game is way up, the...

Re: this is so easy and important....

Let's assume you are playing for fun. Check it down, flip your cards over and say, "Hey bud, tough loss. How about I buy you a beer?"

Now, let's assume you are playing for money. Check it down,...

Re: Free card with a set?

Well played. You aren't giving a free card there. If you were against a draw, the J /forums/images/icons/heart.gif put you behind. If you're winning, your opponent is drawing to 2 outs or dead. ...

Re: The 5max Anomaly...or is it?

I don't have a lot of time tonight, so I'll keep this real short.

Don't bluff. Raise for value preflop rather than to steal. Play fast when you hit the flop (real fast).

Then...

Re: Big Stack or Small Stack?

Larger stack size = more options.

If you are a skilled player, you want to keep your ability to bet big AND you want to keep the intimidation factor afforded you by outstacking your competition.

Re: overaggressive or suberb played?

Overaggressive. SB has shown a lot of strength by 3-betting and betting turn. This is not a normal play for a draw, especially w/ 2 callers and no free card potential.

The cold caller is either...

Re: *THREE* [count \'em] New Gambling Movies!

The Nolte movie is on the way. I saw the preview in a theatre this week...can't recall the name. Critics raving over Nolte's performance. I can't get over the mugshot though.

Re: BTF Raise - Flop Fold

Dynasty is correct. With 4 players in PF, there are 8.5 Small Bets in the pot. With 7 apparently clean outs, it's a clear call. Even when you consider the chance you are against another Jack, JT,...

Re: Falling Apart

For what it's worth, $1/2 is the minor leagues. Going to play money is like equivalent to going back to the sandlot and playing around w/ the kids.

My advice...take a few days off. Come back,...
