Increasing Hand selection

A lot of 2+2 books deal with the topic of hand selection in hold 'em. They mention increasing your hand selection as your skill gets better.

I always stuck to the %15-18 that so many people...

Re: AQo hand from 2+2 table

Just bought that book last night, great article on the AQ test. Re-raising is a better option then cold calling for sure. I would fold at most all tables with an UTG raise however.

Re: Unusually High Rake?

The 1-3 table at Turning Stone is hold em' where you canbet $1 or up to $3 on every round. It's a messy game which is taking a lot of the fish away from $3-6. It blows

Re: 77 heads up

A raise on the flop might give you more information. Otherwise, fine.

Re: Overcards with backdoor flush draw.

Lots of players bet into a preflop raiser to test the waters, let them know that the water is still dangerous, raise the flop to knock out the callers, the rest of the hand was fine.

Re: Hand for Review

Play this flop strong. We're you attempting a checkraise on the flop? I would bet this flop and try to thin the feild. With this many people in, if you get raised, it's still more then okay to...

Re: Pathetic River play?

I would have done the same in your position. If he was bad enough to play 24 or 46 and pump his draw, he would have made his straight by now. Hopefully he had a pair of Tens and you rivered him.

Making your hobby your profession

I see a lot of posts about turning profesional and then read a lot of great advice from both sides of the fence. It seems like the grass is always greener on the other side of course.

I can relate...

A little luck, but too aggressive?

$10-$20. Just started playing this limit online and am suprised by how loose the table can get for this limit.

I'm on the button with JTs. Everyone folds to late MP who raised, folded to me..

Re: Hand to talk about

What is it with online 2-4 games? I do fine in 1-2, 3-6, 4-8 and 5-10 but for some reason the wacky 2-4 games are filled with hands and players like the ones you described? Can anyone else relate?

Two Questions

Hi! Thanks to all who have commented on my hands!

There are just two questions I have been wondering about since becoming a poster.

1. I hear the term "value bet" placed around. What is one and...

Re: Common Occurence

I can relate to your ideas about not raising TT and 99 in games like this. If the situation came up again though, I would raise the 99.

I also found out that my raise with TT even UTG has been...

88 in LMP

Online 1-2. Table is strange. Loose and passive, especially after the flop. Often times, a hand will have 5-6 limpers, but whenever I've raised, they all fold.

This particular hand I was 3 off the...

Re: When would you rather play K8 suited?

Id rather play it with callers to me cause of the bigger possible pot and easy decision making post flop

Re: Best 2 card Hold\'em starting hands

Dont forget also that when playing 99 down, overcards in a multiway pot will slow you're betting down significantly. Sure they might be the best if you call them down all the way, all the time, but...

Suited connectors and jackpots

Here's a question I've always wondered about.

Several cardrooms have high hand jackpot events and many online sites do as well.

How high would a jackpot have to be to make playing any two...
