We could all get together and I could make lunch!
Would you like a bit of souped sarcasm with your sauteed sagacity? It would be no trouble.
In fact, I think it's already been served....

Not really amazing aggression
Mdlm,
There several good books out on Hold'em that will explain to you that:
A) When you are up against just one or two opponents, you should be very aggressive (at least if the players are not...

Granny,
You aren't the only one addicted to your smiley faces. I had to look at your old posts to survive, you can't image the headaches and shakes.

Re: Las Vegas Casino Play 1st Time
Howard,
Yeah, I want to thank you. I played at the Excalibur, which you recommended. That was my 7.5 hours of play on the second day.
It is surprising just how much dealers set the tone for the...

Las Vegas Casino Play 1st Time
This past few days I played at 4 Las Vegas card rooms. In fact, it was my first live poker anywhere.
A brief summary of my experience:
This was mainly a vacation, so sight seeing, escape from...

Clarkmeister
Clarkmeister,
I posted this before, and I hope mdlm is not offended. But I put a "read" on mdlm as being a mentor type -- he learns in order to teach. I actually consider that a complement of...

Re: New stage of learning attempted
Zag,
I like your idea of saying your reads in your head and keeping track of your accuracy.
I understand some about positional play, for instance, the whole free card business between the flop...

Hi Lorinda, Ted, Rick, and others
In chess, as Lorinda suggested, programming has been going on a long time. One of the early world champs (Bronstein, I believe) was a main frame programmer back in the 50's & 60's was already laying...

That was part of the good info you provided -- avoiding the rocks. I'm posting this at 1:40 AM. I'm a night owl.

Or what's next?
This post is about stages in the learning curve, or when you've got some basics down, how do you decide what new areas to explore?

Very useful info, and much appreciated.
I'm coming to Las Vegas for a long weeked (4 days) shortly, and I also have never played in a casino (about 120 hours of online).
Are you...

Re: 9--5 suited, + EV
AA,
Yep, I tend to agree. Even if 9-5 suited hits a flush or a straight (it's not the nut straight, someone could have T-9),it is yet possible to lose.
Still, the idea of playing marginal +EV...

9--5 suited, + EV
American Airlines,
I think you can generalize to a degree about 9-5 suited. It generally stinks in most situations, and would have a negative EV.
It's easy to check this. Online sites have it...

Lookup tables
Botman,
One main question:
How does your AI differ from the lookup tables in Wilson's Turbo Texas Holdem? You imply that your program uses tables as Wilson's program does, but that there is...

Denist,
Mdlm is fun to read. He'll be "eccentric" one day, when he has money. He will probably play good poker though. Could even come up with some sightly original slants on old poker theory --...
