Re: Flipping a bit
Thanks for the responses. I realize it is both extremely rare and also detectible,I was more concerned with physically what causes the error, e.g. magnetic interference, entropy, etc.

Flipping a bit
How do computer flip a bit (change a 0 to a 1)? Is it due to physical flaws in the chip? I was recently involved in a discussion involving an algorithm that was essentially treated as correct...

Re: How important is math in poker?
Math is very important. Many players seem to think math is simply arithmetic and calculations. While most of these calculations are unnecessary since the decisions are often not close, you...

Re: Where do numbers come from?
Perhaps the best treatise on the subject is Frege's Grundlagen, which is a truly impressive work that addresses many different philosophies of mathematics. His basic approach, and one that is still...

Human energy
How much energy could a person generate turning a generator in some fashion? (e.g. hand crank, treadmill, pushing a large mill wheel while being whipped by a taskmaster, etc)

Re: First of Many
I think you played this hand alright, there's not much to be afraid of out there, and betting when you caught another heart sets up a possible steal if you catch another one. Alternatively, you...

I may be wrong, but I think it's a triple draw lowball game played with four cards instead of 5, and having four different suits is lower than A234. A dealer at the Horseshoe explained this game to...
