AKo Shorthanded - too timid?

2/4 shorthanded (4-way) game online im in the SB with AdKh.

UTG (or is he the CO?) folds...
Button raises, I reraise, BB folds, button caps
Heads up on the flop me and button for 9SB

5c5s7c

I check, he bets, I checkraise, he calls

(5c5s7c)Jc

check check

(5c5s7cJc)2h

check check

My hand was good. Now in retrospect I think i may have missed the turn bet. At the time I was afraid of a raise. When the river came, I figured if he didnt have me beat he wouldnt call, so i just checked... what do you guys think?

Thanks
FA

I would just go ahead and bet the turn and watch him fold. If you check here you are giving your opponent a free card that could end up beating your hand. I like your flop play.

with his cap preflop and turn check, you can easily put him on two overcards and bet the river for value. However, I would have bet the turn.

What would you guys have done had the button bet the turn?

This is why I bet the turn. My hand still looks good and I don't want to be the one faced with a decision.

Raising the flop and checking the turn has got to be wrong. Since he got the last bet in pre-flop, I'd be tempted to slow play and check-raise the turn.
