Belterra Poker Room, First Impressions. Positive, very positive.

I played three hours at the new poker room at Belterra today and I believe the room has a lot of potential. It was actually quite amazing for a first day. Some of the dealers were nervous but they were well trained and things went very smooth.

The room has twelve tables with lots of space between the tables, quite a few large TVS and overall the physical layout is good.

The waitress was a hottie, scantily clad and was assigned to the poker room only. +EV on all counts.

Get this, when you sit down, they collect your cash and bring the chips to you at the table? No waiting in line with slot players to buy chips or cash out!

They never have a dead button. The button goes to the small blind and then there are two big blinds in front of the button. This was brand new to me but the floor explained it and it makes perfect sense. When you only have one blind in a pot it kills the action so this way there is money in the pot to create action.

Starting in July, they will have tourneys every Thursday, I have no information on buy-ins, blinds, levels, etc.

I didn't get a comp card so I don't know about comps either.

This was the first day so they only had four tables running, one 10-20,two 4-8 and a 3-6 Omaha hi-low split with a full kill.

They open at 10AM and go to 3AM on weekdays, 24 hours on weekends. I am certain that I am forgeting something but I can always reply to my own post.

When a poker room first opens, it is always an aquarium so I will be logging as much time as possible at Belterra in the next few weeks.

I remember, The dealers get to keep their own tips!

this is the only poker room in Indiana where the dealers are allowed to keep their own tips. That is one of the main reasons I believe the Poker Room has so much potential. Nothing encourages professionalism and speed like direct and immediate renumeration!

LOL, keep in mind, all the poker rooms out here in the midwest make you go to the cage to buy your chips and you do have to stand in line with all the other fools that are cashing their welfare and social security checks to go pull the one-armed bandits. Chip-runners are unheard of.

It is obvious that you are not a regular at Indiana poker rooms.

chip runners are like really cool and having a hot waitress that only serves the poker room is also unheard of. At Ceasars IN the waitress for the poker room often has to cover half of the next level of the boat also.

I bet you get free food also.

That is why I love Tunica. Free liquor at Tunica makes the poker better also.
