Bankroll Dillemma

I'm considering switching from limit hold'em to SnGs because of my success. I foolishly joined one tonight w/ a friend for about 1/15th of my bankroll but managed to win. I really want to gain some experience in this to see if this is a better choice for me than micro limit sng.

My conscience is teling me to play more limit to build up my bankroll for just the $5.50 sngs to start, but my limit game isn't that great -- this doesn't mean I don't have confidence in my sng game though.

Is there a logical way to gain experience w/o putting a larger than suggested portion of my bankroll up?

I'm not sure what 1/15 of your bankroll is. If you played a 5+1, then you should move to the $11s after this win ($90+$19= Enough to play the $11s). If you mistakenly played a $215 then go play some $11s while you learn with your great, big, huge bankroll.

It is the consensus around these parts that the 5+1s are bad to play because of the +1s part.

aye, the 20% rake is beatable, but really not worth time time. play the 11s. i started with 50 bucks. no sweat, won the first one and was well on my way.

Oh sorry, I\'ll clarify

On stars, its $5+$0.50 (thank god)
I now have $100, and I can't lose it. So if $119 is enough for the $11, then $100 is definitely enough for the $5.50s in your opinion. Sounds reasonable, thanks.

$119 isnt really enough for the 10s. Despite their ease, you can lose your buyin, and if you lose 50-60 (which is definitely possible), you arent going to want to play 4 more with your last 40 bucks.
Stick to the 5's for a while, if you are good enough to beat the 11s, you should have a bankroll of 300-500 in not too long.

Do you mean it would be ruinous to lose it? IMO, if you can't afford to lose it for good, it's not part of your bankroll unless you're willing to bet the farm that you're a winning player.

I would hate to lose it. I've built it up from a $1 loan from a friend through micro-limit - it's a matter of principle.

then for sure stay at the 5+.5s until you hit at least 250-300. then move up.

I hope you paid your friend back .

You are planning to play limit SNG's, right?

NL SnGs. I feel that SnGs and cash NL games are very different. I'm very unclear on where I stand strategically with the regular $5.50 players though, although I think I'm good.
