playing QQ when raised in front of you...

It was my first time playing in a live game that wasnt in someones kitchen. We just started playing here in the indian casinos this week. $4/$8 is the lowest game they had available so i sit. i get delt QQ about 2 hours in and i am definatley the tightest player at the table. The button is one spot to my left, one person calls, then the guy to my right raises, i reraise. Everyone folds except the guy who first limped in and the original raiser. The flop comes J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 10 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. The first guy bets 2nd one calls I raise. First guy calls the original raiser folds.Turn card is J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. He gets this fustrated look on his face when it hit the board I did not read it to be an act when he checked to me so i bet, he calls. The river is A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] i thought i was dead when this card came out we both check and he wins with AK suited. Did I play this hand right?

Bet the river for value. (Also, your description of the action is a bit difficult to follow. Read some posts here, and follow the convention as closely as possible. Do not provide results in your question. Welcome to the forum.)

Why would you bet the river for value here after you've just seen the two worst possible cards you could get on the turn and the river. I think you played it fine. After watching the top card pair the board on the turn and then an overcard spike on the river I'm getting to showdown as fast as possible.

You encountered no meaningful aggression on the flop or fourth street, so I do not give credit for a jack. (It would be different if the villain three-bet.)

Yes, the ace sucks. But given the guy's late position raise, you probably run into an ace as often as you run into hands like 77-99, KQ, KT etc. It's not a clear bet for value, but depending on my read, I bet this more often than not.

Think about the opponent your facing. He's not the preflop aggressor. He bet a flop that looks like it may have missed everyone, he showed no aggression when TP pairs up. His likely holdings are fairly bland to weak at this point. To him the J pairing is fairly scary.

When you bet the river he will call with many hands that do not beat you, he will call with several that will beat you but he won't raise most of those.
