Check the river?

No reads on anyone, this is like the sixth hand at the table. Probably a bad play but I was calling a raise on the river. After I played it I felt that I should have checked and called a bet, maybe induce one, or save me a big bet if I'm beat. Thoughts?

Re: Check the river?

Unless you know your opponent to be super tricky (or super rockish), betting the river is clearly the proper play.

You have to bet this river.

standard bet.

He'll call you with a weaker holding more than enough times to make it a value bet.

I just thought after the hand that he's either calling down with the obvious flush draw, or for some reason a hand like QJ or KQ, does anyone think an induced bluff would happen here, just out of curiosity? Anyways heres the end of the hand with the results.

yes.. the results will look like that more than enough. IMO, he'll hold 1 pair or worse, ~75% of the time.

Another question, lets say on the turn that the king doesn't come out, still come out betting and fold to a raise? Saying of course that the turn isn't a heart.

Depends on the card and if you have a read but in most cases I'd still bet.

Most unknowns like to peel one off and fold the turn unimproved. The fact that you only got called in one spot makes it a must bet again on a board semi-uncoordinated as this one.
